Volkswagen has had some amazing commercials in the past few years. Somehow I missed this one with Gene Kelly. It’s very possible that everyone else has seen it, but I saw it for the first time today – genius!

This week I’ve received some surprising news from my own odd bubble of pop culture (if you can call it that; most people probably don’t even know the people I’m about to write about).

My favorite fantasy author, Robert Jordan, has announced that he has been diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare blood disease with a grim life expectancy for those diagnosed. His treatment starts at the Mayo Clinic within the next month or so. Hopefully there will be good news to come.

On a less grim subject, I often watch a show on G4TV called Attack of the Show. The whole cast is fun to watch, but my favorite segments have always been those with the co-host, Sarah Lane, or with Brendan Moran, a regular on the show. Last night, they announced that they are leaving the show this week so that they can get married and travel the world for 13 months. Up until now, they have not publicly announced their engagement (or that they were dating) and definitely did not mention their plans to leave AOTS and travel. Congrats to them, but I’ll miss seeing them on TV.

I’ve had a pretty bad cold for a week now which has left me with little motivation to do anything except sleep. I managed to get a fair amount of work done last week, but between work and rest I haven’t had much time to use Lightwave, edit the college videos, or finish any of the other tasks queuing up on me. I have been drawing quite a bit, however, so I decided to post up one or two of the sketches I liked.

I’m finally starting to feel pretty good again, so hopefully I can start putting up more 3D posts in the gallery and add to the college section.

I made another change to the site, although you probably won’t notice a huge difference (although it took most of an evening to implement). My site is now integrated with Blogger.com, the blogging service from Google. If you register with Blogger.com (it’s free and doesn’t collect any personal information), you can post comments on my blog and many other blogs in the community.

Why did I choose Blogger.com? Because I like the blog editor, it allows me to publish the content to my website in any format I choose, and it’s simple to use. Hopefully this means that I will start posting more often.

I’m finally starting to dedicate some time to editing the tapes from college. I’ve had them for over a year
now and so far only managed to digitize them. I’m going to try to spend half an hour a day on these guys
until they are done, so look for a DVD in a few months.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this site (except for the occasional photos update), but I decided to change the look of the site. I expect to have more content in the near future as I slowly improve the site. Stay tuned for more!
